Its Carnival time again in Kochi! The 25th Kochi Carnival has started with a Ceremony of Peace at St.Francis Church, Fort Kochi, on Sunday.
The fortnight long carnival promises to be a riot of festivities with procession of caparisoned elephants, games and partying. The festival will conclude on the New Years day.
This is a great time to be traveling to Kochi. There is the Kochi shopping festival also which is currently on, modeled on the lines of the Dubai Shopping festival. The weather is fine and the city is all decked up to usher in the New Year.
The city will also witness on December 28th, its first Jewish marriage in 21 years which will be solemnized as per the Talmud book of Jewish rituals, at the oldest synagogue in the Commonwealth, constructed in 1568. The Jewish community in Kochi has around 48 members.
I plan to visit the Carnival soon and will be uploading some pics. Watch this space.
